Heya, folks! We've been working on the server pretty hard the last days and wanted to show you a small screenshot from ingame!
First of all, we are really sorry for the delay! We probably shouldn't have given you a release date in the first place.
But we are also working on getting the server up as quick as we can!
I hope all of you can understand that we just want the best start possible. No matter how long it takes.
Most of the building is already done! (The new spawn looks awesome btw :)) But the plugin setup, dungeons and quest aren't ready for release yet.
The old admin team has come back together, meaning that we are working even faster! :)
We love our great community but we can't give you a definitive release date! We certainly won't make the same mistake again. ^^ We're done, when we're done! (The only thing we can promise you is that it will definitely be before summer :P)
We will try to keep you in the loop and post more news, pictures, videos about our progress!

The server will be back with the new map
15th February 2013One day later, the server will get added to PMC and other sever lists - so everyone who is checking our website will get early access!
A lot of you may have noticed that the last fews days the server didn't have much people on and everybody is talking about the reset. I (SpaceEmotion) would like to say a few things in this news post.
First thing is about the reset in general. Yes, the complete server / map will get a reset. The reasons: not working plugins and missing moderation. We wanted to not only have a great RPG experience by using the Heroes plugin for classes and skills, we also wanted to add quests and NPCs. We know a lot about quest writing and NPC creation - but using Heroes was most likely the first real time for us - and the plugin messed up everything.
In Heroes there only exist Heroes(Players) or Monsters(All other Mobs). Because Heroes has its own health management it is completely incompatible with NPC plugins. That means that we had to take close our first and only dungeon and a few other stuff he had lying around. That made people complaining about the server ("Where are the dungeons", "Is there a dungeon nearby?", "Does this server even has a single dungeon???").
The missing / not working moderation just produced more work than it should: We searched for "experienced" and "trustable" moderators, and some of them just have done mod abusing (overclaiming, unfair raiding, ...) when we were not online. A lot of regular players got mad about this and just left us, which makes us sad.
These two things made us thinking about a map reset in the early December and we finally announced it half way through.
But what is the reason for the delayed reset? We first said that we wanted to publish the new map at the 1. January (We now have the 4th and still haven't). Like I said above, Heroes was a big problem for us, so I started on my own custom class / skill plugin - called cRPG. The plugin is ready since a few days, I am just writing over 30 skills for you to use and try to remove some bugs that I can find (Early testings gave positive feedback). However, that means we cannot release when the skills aren't ready. So I am still working on them.
Sadly, BotInPerson left us a few days ago so we are only two main admins (Sebi900 and myself) who are managing the whole server. We got ourselves a small building team so we can provide the new map faster but we still need some time.
Last but not least I want to thank all the people that are still supporting us - either a new news entry will come, or you will see the new map someday when you log on.
The new map will probably not be released this month. An information video will follow
Before our current map we had an alpha and beta map (WIth alpha and beta we do not mean the minecraft version stages - we had our own release stages!). We still had them laying on our server, so we thought about giving one of our oldest maps as a downloadable world.
Important notesPlease do
/gamerule doFireTick offimmediately after you loaded the map - otherwise buildings will start burning. To use that function open the world to LAN and enable cheats.
Also, please mind that the signs are on german, since the first two maps were designed in our first language.

You most likely already have noticed that the server still runs the 1.4.5 Minecraft version. This is not a very big problem for the players that still running the "old" version to run their mods that hasn't been updated yet.
However, a lot of users already have updated and only a few are able to / want to downgrade their minecraft again.
In the past we were really quick with the updates, we tested the most important plugins with the newest developer builds of the server software and then tried them out in production. Like in 1.4.5 we almost instantly upgraded once the server software was available.
During the development towards the 1.4.5 Release Build (Yes, we are still running the Beta-Build) the Bukkit project changed one big thing in their code which caused nearly the half of our plugins to break. The Heroes plugin (Custom classes and skills) is a big part of it. That means that (obviously) the 1.4.6 server software also contains that change, which makes us unable to update. Heroes itself has not been completely updated, and the part that already "works" is the skill part - which now does not accept any more skills (even the "in-house" skills that come with the basic package of the plugin). That means we would have no skills to offer besides the classes - not good (and does not make any sense).
These problems are the problem we have with updating to 1.4.6
One solution is to remove Heroes until the 1. Jan 2013 (A blog post about what happens will follow) so we can update. The second (and last) solution would be still running the 1.4.5 server software until the 1. Jan 2013.
We personally decided to remove Heroes, since all the levels will be reset anyways, so leveling up now won't make any big difference.
I (SpaceEmotion) will open a poll thread in the forums that you can answer with your opinion. Until we don't get a clear result we won't upgrade to 1.4.6

Some of you may have encountered some connection problems. Well, we also did!
The problem is not our server, the minecraft services themselves are bugging around. Thats why we added a small service tracker to the right.
We hope that solves the questions why you cannot reach your beloved Catharos :)!
First of all we want to thank everyone that has been online on our sever since we started. To be exactly, 2419 users have logged in their first time since the 1st November 2012. Thats a huge number!
However a lot of people were complaining about the Heroes plugin (Custom classes and skills). So do we (Quests are not working, we had to remove tons of NPCs and had a lot of other issues) and are currently working on a new plugin by ourselves. It will be a lot easier to use (no confusing commands) and has exactly the features we want.
Some of you may have already seen the changes on our website. We are constantly working on it in the background, improving the quality, stability and performance.
We recently opened our forum you can find in the top right corner. If you have any issues - just post them in the according sections or create a new thread.

Since then over 300 new people has visited us. What a number! We are still working hard on the server and try to give new users a fairer start into the wilderness (The spawn-rates are too high at the moment).
